Once the starter is active after feeding, it is dehydrated at low-temperatures to ensure a successful rehydration.

    Hi, I'm Erica!

    I'm a former teacher with a passion for helping people learn. During the COVID pandemic, I picked up sourdough baking as a hobby, never imagining it would become so much more than a way to pass the time.

    What started as a simple curiosity quickly became a fixation. I fell in love not only with baking, but also with the history, science, and health benefits behind traditional sourdough. Before long, I was testing techniques, comparing methods, and gathering the information that actually works—all with the goal of making sourdough less intimidating and more enjoyable.

    That hobby eventually became Pacific Poppy Sourdough—a place where I can share everything I've learned and help others experience the joy of baking healthy, delicious sourdough without falling into the endless rabbit hole of conflicting information online. My goal is to make sourdough approachable, enjoyable, and something anyone can feel confident creating at home.
