How We Make It

The starter you receive is of the highest quality. Our starter, lovingly named Poppy, is maintained daily and has been living her best life for many years.

Poppy is: fed with clean water and high-quality flour - dehydrated in our low-temp machine to ensure life of the bacteria (which do not survive over 96 degrees Fahrenheit), ground in a food processor for optimal rehydration, and bagged in 10g increments, all within 48 hours.

Poppy is:

  • Mature and highly active

  • Fed and dehydrated at its peak to ensure high levels of activity

  • Fed with organic bread flour and deionized water to ensure only the cleanest ingredients are used
